NDT is an analysis technique used by us to evaluate the properties of materials, components, structures or systems without causing damage to the original part.
IU INSPECTION’S outstanding track record of research and development, team of highly skilled engineers and technicians, and our wide range of industrial facilities and tools place us in a unique position to solve the NDT problems of member companies. IU INSPECTION carries out hundreds of projects of this nature for our members every year.
Hardness testing does not give a direct measurement of any performance properties. But hardness correlates with strength, wear resistance, and other properties. Beta is using the latest technology hardness testers for getting the more reliable and on spot results.
Ferrite testing is a fast & inexpensive technique used to measure the delta ferrite content in austenitic stainless steel and duplex stainless steel. Ferrite testing can establish the ideal ferrite content balance between ductility, toughness, corrosion resistance, and crack prevention.
The delta ferrite content is measured to better understand an austenitic or duplex stainless steel’s susceptibility to corrosion, susceptibility to solidification cracking and other types of material failure.
A ferrite content that is too high or too low can be unfavorable. If the ferrite content is too low, then the stainless steel may be susceptible to solidification cracking (hot cracking) upon welding. If the ferrite content is too high, then the risk of corrosion increases. Also, the mechanical properties of the stainless steel could be negatively affected if the ferrite content is too high.
Thickness measurements can be used to evaluate a coating’s expected life, the product’s appearance and performance, and ensure compliance with a host of International Standards. Through proper Monitoring of Paint & Coating thickness, a tank or pipe can be fortified to withstand abrasive and corrosive service conditions from acids and oxidizing agents
Dry film thickness is probably the most critical measurement in the coatings industry because of its impact on the coating process, quality and cost. A coating thickness gauge (also referred to as a paint meter) is used to measure dry film thickness.
When a low frequency magnetic field is applied on a ferrous substrate, the signal induced by the coil inside the probe is proportional to the distance between the probe and the base.
Induced currents are produced on the metal surface when a high frequency field is applied. Induced currents and the signal obtained from the coil are proportional to the distance with the base.
The hand-held, electronic Gage non-destructively measures the thickness of coatings on all metals, quickly and accurately without access to both sides of the laminate. It consists of a Gage body and probe. The gage body accepts a wide variety of probe types including magnetic, eddy-current, and ultrasonic coating thickness, and ultrasonic wall thickness probes
The gauge use the magnetic principle to measure the thickness of non-magnetic coatings on ferrous metals and eddy current principle to measure the thickness of non-conductive coatings on non-ferrous metals.
A holiday spark test is used to check for inconsistencies such as pinholes, discontinuities and voids in coatings covering metallic surfaces. In a spark test, a voltage is applied across metal fibers temporarily placed on the coated surface.
A specialized tools and equipment used to detect discontinuities in coated surfaces is called holiday detectors, and are portable devices that are swept across the coated surface.
Holidays tests work on the concept of electrical conductivity.
Types of Holiday Testing Devices
Low Voltage Holiday Detectors
They are effective for coating thicknesses of 500 microns or less. This detection method is suitable for identifying pinhole defects only.
High Voltage Holiday Detectors
This higher voltage allows them to detect holidays in thicker coatings (greater than 500 microns).
Vacuum box testing is a non-destructive examination used when trying to locate leaks in a pressure boundary that cannot be directly pressurized. This is accomplished by applying a solution to a local area of the pressure boundary surface and creating a differential pressure across that local area of the boundary causing the formation of bubbles as leakage gas passes through the solution.
Post Weld Heat Treatment Services (PWHT) is defined as the stress relieving method after welding to improve the mechanical and chemical properties of welds.
There are different ways of performing PWHT like local heat treatment and furnace heat treatment. We are having a group of highly experienced personnel to perform PWHT.
We provide Inspection services during operation and shutdown, assessing the condition, operation and efficiency of the functioning equipment. We assure in delivering a quality inspection services at innovative and cost-effective way for your asset’s lifecycle taking account of operational cost, risks and applicable industry standards and requirements.
We have a group of plant inspectors and engineer to perform inspection in petrochemical plant and refineries.
Our inspectors have been working in various Sabic Plant and other petrochemical plants in Saudi Arabia.
